What was the original seed of the idea that led you to launch your company?
I was a teacher with 9th-grade students that could not read and do math on grade level and encouraged to give passing grades by the school administration.
What inspired you to go “all in” on making this vision a reality?
My former student Demario Atwater killed the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body President Eve Carson.
What were some early challenges you faced?
I began talking about television over the Internet in 2000 (before YouTube). Technology had the catch up with my vision.
Name one person or resource that really made a difference in your early growth.
Who is your most significant client/customer and why are they important to your company?
Modern Woodmen of America. They provided seed capital for equipment and a team.
What do you feel makes the Triangle a great place to grow a company?
Resources, recreation, higher learning institutions, and diversity.
Tell us a favorite client/customer success story.
Erika Mann – She was the first student of the TMT Youth Community Foundation. She broke generational barriers and became the first of her siblings to graduate college.
What is one piece of advice would you give to emerging entrepreneurs?
Grind until it hurts.
What is your favorite thing to do to help blow off steam?
Manicure and Pedicure

Selling Krispy Kreme donuts to support Camp TMT on the side of the road.
